The challenge

When Nordea completed its NOK 5.5 billion acquisition of Gjensidige Bank in March 2019, an entire banking operation with customers, accounts and loans had to be migrated into Nordea’s platform. The bank carried on as Nordea Direct from February 2020. A migration of this kind places significant demands on both technical precision and continuity: customers have to be able to use their bank as normal while everything moves underneath them.

The solution

Bjørn was the tech lead throughout the migration of Gjensidige Bank into Nordea Direct, responsible for coordinating the technical work and ensuring a safe transition.

Lessons and insights

Migrating an entire bank is as much about risk management and continuity as it is about technology – customers should notice as little as possible of what is happening under the hood.
